Dana Godfrey

With more than 33 years of experience in providing personalized legal and financial services to clients, attorney Dana Godfrey is a distinguished member of the legal community in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Dana is a Certified Specialist – Family Law, The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Dana litigates in a wide range of family law matters, including marital dissolution, child custody, paternity matters, child and spousal support, property division, and business analysis. Dana is known in the legal community as an artful negotiator and a very successful trial litigator.
Dana’s practice emphasizes the area of dissolution financial analysis, and children and child custody issues. Dana has always maintained a “children’s best interest” focus for the hundreds of child custody and paternity cases in which he has helped his clients. Dana has received numerous awards and special recognition for the services he has provided to children, including awards from The Alliance for Children’s Rights, the Boy Scouts of America, the American Youth Soccer Organization, the Parent Teacher’s Association, and as a Temporary Judge for Los Angeles County – Family Law Division.
In addition to practicing law, Dana has taught Graduate Business Law and Economics as an instructor at the University of Phoenix, and taught Community Property and Family Law at American College of Law, where he was a visiting professor.
Graduating first in his class, Dana earned his law degree at the University of La Verne, College of Law. While in law school, Dana was awarded several American Jurisprudence Awards, including the areas of Community Property, Trial Advocacy, Civil Procedure, and Secured Property Transactions. Additionally, Dana was the Managing Editor for the Law Review, publishing the Journal for Juvenile Law.
Dana is a member of the State Bar of California, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association, San Bernardino Bar Association, and is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dana received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from California State University San Diego, and subsequently undertook graduate studies in Economics, with emphasis in Money & Banking and International Trade and Finance, at California State University Long Beach. Prior to practicing law, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of a multi-million dollar financial institution.
