State Crimes
Fear and uncertainty can set in if you have been charged with a crime at the state level. You need immediate representation to ensure that your constitutional rights are protected. At Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan, we have aggressively and effectively advocated for our clients facing a variety of criminal charges.
Clients we have represented at Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan have been accused of the following and other crimes:
| • | DUI | |
| • | Drug Possession | |
| • | Sex Crimes / Rape | |
| • | Manslaughter / Murder | |
| • | Arson | |
| • | Assault & Battery | |
| • | Theft | |
| • | Weapons Crimes |
State drug crimes involve the possession, manufacture, or sale of illegal substances and any other illegal activity related to them within the confines of the state. Representative cases we have handled for clients have included sales and possession of methamphetamines (meth), cocaine, and marijuana. Our attorneys have also represented clients accused of prescription drug fraud, including fraud involving Oxy Contin.
While a DUI charge could result in an immediate loss of your license, a conviction could affect your right to drive and ability to make a living, as well as result in exorbitant insurance rates. While DUI cases present their own set of difficulties, we can often challenge various aspects of the arrest and test procedures.
Your constitutional rights need to be protected if you have been charged with a drug, alcohol-related, or violent crime. For a legal DUI arrest, there must have been probable cause in the initial traffic stop, and all testing procedures must be performed in accordance with relevant laws. For drug possession, all searches and seizures must be done legally or the evidence collected can be suppressed. Violent crimes carry serious penalties and require aggressive representation to get to the facts of the case.

Federal Crimes
A federal crime charge presents challenges for a criminal defense lawyer and severe consequences if you are convicted. Your future is at stake, not to mention your freedom. At Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan, we bring a singular background and experience to our practice of defending clients charged with federal drug and white collar crimes–for eight years, senior partner Eliot F. Krieger was an Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuting these cases.
Federal criminal activity often involves white collar crimes. While most people do not think of a white collar crime as an offense committed by a hardened criminal, the penalties can be just as severe as a crime related to murder or drugs. At Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan, we have represented clients charged with the following crimes and others:
| • | Money Laundering | |
| • | Bank Fraud | |
| • | Government Fraud | |
| • | Health Care Fraud | |
| • | Mail Fraud | |
| • | Insurance Fraud | |
| • | Securities Fraud | |
| • | Tax Evasion | |
| • | Federal Weapons Offenses |
Drug crimes at the federal level usually encompass the large-scale trafficking of illegal substances. Counts charging money laundering and weapons possession are often charged with the main drug counts. Moreover, the state of California is in a unique position and a legal quandary in that it has legalized medical marijuana facilities. The federal government still deems them as illegal, while the state authorities allow marijuana use in medical circumstances. Jarvis Krieger & Sullivan has experience in dealing with federal investigation of state medical marijuana clinics.
If you have been subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury, an attorney cannot accompany you into the courtroom, but that does not mean you should not seek representation. Our firm has consulted with clients involved in a grand jury investigation outside the confines of a courtroom. Legal representation is vital because, if you go in blindly, you may say something that could implicate you in the crime even if you are only deemed a witness. Our attorneys will ensure that you are well prepared for your grand jury testimony.
